Sustainable Fashion 101
Join us on May 21st for Sustainable Fashion 101, presented by Fashion Takes Action and Ecocert. This informative panel discussion is geared toward the fashion industry: designers, retailers, suppliers, manufacturers, and media.
Our panel includes:
- Ellen Karp - President of Anerca. Ellen's work with consumer insights and behaviors have led to breakthrough developments on behalf of some of the world's most powerful brands. Ellen sits on the Board of Advisors with the Organic Trade Association.
- Lorraine Smith - Independent Sustainability Consultant specializing in textiles an retail. Lorraine recently wrote a report documenting the environmental and social practices of a large textile manufacturer's global operations.
- Andrea Stairs - Head of Marketplace Development, eBay Canada. Andrea manages Canadian Marketing, Sales and PR for eBay, the world’s leading online marketplace. With a global community of more than 88 million active buyers and sellers, eBay has played a role in helping consumers reuse over $100 billion worth of products since 1998.
- Kelly Drennan - Founder, Fashion Takes Action (FTA), Kelly has one foot in the fashion industry and the other in green business, and hopes to bring the two together. FTA, which products the annual Green Gala event, is now a members based organization that provides sustainable resources and tools to the fashion industry.
- Elsa Poncet - ECOCERT Europe. Elsa is an agro-economist who deals with the technical aspects of the ECOCERT Fair Trade certification scheme, which applies to food, textiles and cosmetics. She will share her insight about the social, economical, environmental standards required for Fair Trade Labeling.

Ecocert Canada will introduce and promote their program for organic and fair trade certification of textiles. This important certification program is international in scope, providing third party verification of production methods from farm to factory to retail store. Ecocert has offices around the world and is well positioned to provide trusted certification to such an international industry.
